A little over a year ago, I convinced two of the closest ladies in my life to let me do their makeup/hair and then photograph them. They were my baby bff and one of my sisters.
My sister, Shanah |
My baby bff, Joice |
Since getting pregnant with my daughter, I've had a combination of deterrents in continuing my photography/makeup artistry pursuit which was suffering from morning sickness and taking care of a rambunctious toddler.
Now that my daughter is turning five months soon, I'm hoping to get her on a better schedule so that it'll free me up to do things other than be by her side 24/7. I would love to first get back into photography and then gradually get back into more makeup application on models.
Recently, I picked up a book recommended by @MakeupByLeina called "About Face" by Scott Barnes and boy am I inspired to practice my technique for makeup application!
This book is definitely an awesome resource for makeup application because it has so many tips and techniques. I can't help but try to do all the looks on myself to get the hang of the techniques.
Thinking back on what inspired me to pick up makeup artistry was when I had watched a youtube video in early 2011 of a makeup artist doing work on a model's face. It was like watching a painter create a masterpiece and I was in awe of how he was able to create such a flawless and beautiful look. That artist was Mario Dedivanovic! This was the video that made me an instant fan of his -
Along with this video and the plethora of youtube gurus teaching their makeup application technique, honing in on different makeup applications and products that best achieved different looks I wanted to create has created my makeup obsession!
Here are some of the youtube gurus that teach and offer just that-
I hope to get back into photography and makeup artistry soon. For now, I'll have to squeeze in makeup application as quickly as I can during the kiddos' naps and use my DSLR to record my youtube videos.
Pretty sad, huh?
So who inspires your makeup artistry? What guru or MUA inspires you to try that new product makeup and brush to create that great makeup look?
Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to follow my blog for new posts!
Stay beautiful inside and out!
