Review: Kiss' Cocktail Nail Dress

About -

Fashion That Sticks

Introducing Kiss Nail Dress, ultimate nail fashion for tips and toes! Just peel, apply, and shape for a manicure that lasts up to 10 days. On in minutes, off in seconds without remover. Nail Dress is available in 18 different styles, many of them featuring 3-dimensional jeweled designs. Check out Peplum, a deep black with multi-colored gems for a pop of color, or Babydoll, for a golden and glamorous jeweled look. Skip the topcoat, Nail Dress has it built in.

With 28 strips in each package, you can cut up your extras to create designs that can be used on top of polished or artificial nails. Nail Dress doesn’t dry out the way other polish strips can, so you can save them to use on your next DIY mani. A nail design booklet is included in each package, just in case you need a little inspiration.

And don’t forget about your feet! Nail Dress looks awesome on toes, too – just use the square side of the sticker for a perfect fit.
Where to Buy
Nail Dress’ suggested retail is $6.99 and is available in all major drug chains and mass retailers like WalMart, CVS and Walgreens.

I'm a fan of nail products either it be polish or nails stamps, so nail decals with really cute or funky designs had my instant attention.

When receiving the Kiss nail dress in 'cocktail', I was excited to try them out. I've used Sally Hansens and Incoco brands in the past and I was interested to see how these compared.

The Test -

On March 20th, I squeezed in some mommy time to do my nails and decided to do two nails on each hand with the 'Cocktail' design with white matte finger on the rest. The pink nail decals had a 3D effect with clear rhinestones.

Here is the tutorial on how I achieved this look with my Kiss Nail Dress decals -

Here were my initial thoughts once I had the nail decals on -

  • Smells faintly like white out
  • Feels weird because it's raised
  • Feels like it would snag but doesn't
  • Easy to apply and re-adjust
  • Tough to trim to my nail - material is really dense
  • Some of the bling came off when trimming
  • I like the color and bling
Day 1

Upon day ten, I was thoroughly impressed at how well it stood up. In contrast, the Sally Hansen decals claim it lasts up to ten days but by day four or so, there would be a chip in my nail! The Kiss nail decals had signs of a ten day wear with a very slight disappearance of it on the tips of my nails. The color wasn't as vibrant as day one.

Day 10

The removal was an interesting process because I've never peeled 'nail art' off in once piece. To remove, I dug my nail into the top corner of the decal and peeled off. The feeling of my nail being tugged upward while I removed the decal was a weird. Once removed, the denseness that the decal had at first application was glue and now on my nail. The process of removing the glue was similar to removing nail polish, I had to work off the glue from of my nail with acetone, which took less than a minute for each nail. In contrast, the Sally Hansen decals are annoying to remove because it takes some working into to remove.

Overall, I am highly impressed at how great these nail decals were and have already bought more! I ranked this product a 5 out of 5 stars!

Pro -
  • Easy to apply, re-adjust and can be trimmed to shape
  • Very durable in material
  • Received a cute design
  • Cheaper than the Sally Hansen nail decals
  • Lived up to lasting 10 days
  • Available at many stores
  • Got several compliments
  • Doesn't dry out once opened
  • Could be used for toes

Cons
  • Faint smell of white out
  • Felt like it was going to snag but didn't
  • It ended up snagging a bit where the decal lifted by cuticle
  • Not many designs like Sally
  • Took longer to trim excess with file
  • Took a bit to get used to having a 3D decal and the leftover glue took some work to remove

In short -

Packaging - Easy to open, decals came in sealed plastic, direction easy to follow, decals on clear plastic helped figure sizes
Easy Application for fingers - Yes! took less than 5 min to do the 4 fingers I applied decal to
Easy Application for toes - Somewhat, it took some time to get the sizes for the toes right
High quality? Yes, decals were very dense which ensure longevity
Easy removal - Yes! Just peel but had to use acetone to remove glue that stayed on nail
Smell - First couple of days it smelled like white out, began to fade after
Cost - Average $6.99 (coupon avail for $1 off)
