My background -


A little over 4 months ago, I had transitioned my career from being a full time financial corporate gal to a full time stay at home mom to my 2 year old son and 4 month old daughter. Being a person that needed caffeine (mainly coffee) to kick start my day before getting pregnant, I have had to resort to other means of obtaining energy without caffeine intake during and after pregnancy.

Some of the foods I've included to help increase my energy levels were oatmeal, bananas, drinking water, eating nuts (pistachio or almonds) and just eating more fruits/veggies. But I have a constant battle with binge snacking while at home. Many things that roam my mind when it comes to food are: Is there caffeine in this? I can't eat this because I need to lose some extra baby weight. What's the calorie content in this? I'm hungry now, those chips look good!


The Test -


I was able to test and enjoy all 4 of the raw chocolate flavors.


Upon receiving the snacks, they were packaged in bright colored thin 'foil-like' baggy that had a lot of great information about the energy nuggets. Each bag contained 3 servings which was a total of 6 energy nuggets. These snacks are raw, organic and made with no gluten. Some quick info that the packages contained were:

First day I tried these snacks was when I was really hungry between breakfast and lunch. I started out with one but still felt consumed with hunger. So I ate another nugget and topped it off with water. Less than 15 minutes or so I felt my hunger pangs disappear and a while later a bump of energy. It satiated my hunger for while that I didn't feel hungry until over an hour after I would have usually eaten lunch. 


I continued to include these snacks as my go to 'in between' meals snacks and they really helped with curbing my binge snacking. Snacking on these felt like I was having a little dessert since it had chocolate and fruit flavors. As opposed to waiting until I was very hungry, I timed eating them when I had a slight tinge of hunger.

The nutritional value of a bag of Brazilian Chocolate Ecstasy - the calories per serving (2 nuggets) was 110, total fat 3g, Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 65mg, total carbs 18g with dietary fiber of 4 g and protein 3g. 

Taste - 

Each snack nugget had a very distinct chocolate flavor which had complemented well with the other ingredients. It had a nice subtle crunch from the different seeds. When holding the snack, it is smaller than a ping pong ball with a firm touch and easy to bite into. The texture is similar to a drier consistency of the pulp of a raisin and it varied in colors.

• Satiated hunger for a couple more hours
• Gave me a bump of energy
• Better for my body with all the great ingredients

Overall, I really liked these snacks because they were delicious, easy to throw into my bag, it hit the spot when I got hungry, gave me a bump of energy without relying on caffeine and it is great to know that is good for me. This helped address the constant questions that I would have with binge snacking and being more conscientious about food intake.

In short -

Packaging - In easy to open biodegradable bags, these light weight snacks are small and can be consumed within 2-3 bites. 

Met energy & hunger need?  Yes, I felt energized and it helped with my hunger when I consumed a serving (2 nuggets) in between meals. 

Taste - The complements of the ingredients together made for a great snack.

Smell - Depending on which snack, you could smell chocolate in each.
