Haul: 2nd bountiful basket

Oh the beauty of fresh vegetables and fruits! Here is my 2nd bountiful basket haul.

Don't know what bountiful basket is? Check out my post on my first bountiful basket! http://www.reeracoma.com/2012/03/my-first-bountiful-baskets.html or the recipes I used http://www.reeracoma.com/2012/03/eating-healthy-bountiful-basket.html

Saturday morning, we wrangled the entire family to a pick up location less than 5 minutes away from our house. It was a windy morning in Las Vegas and I was regretting not wearing a thicker sweater but I waited less than 5 minutes to get my goodies.

I love hearing about what others did with their veggies and fruits.

My first Bountiful Baskets!

I heard about bountiful baskets from my friend Brandi and I'm so excited to share!

Their website is www.bountifulbaskets.org. It's a co-op that's volunteered ran which focuses on attaining produce (fruits/vegetables) as close to local as possible thus making the carbon footprint eco-friendly in comparison to those produce we get in our grocery stores. You don't know know what produce you will be receiving but it's usually what's currently in season.

For a first timer, you add $4.50 ($3 for first timer and $1.50 processing fee) on top of the regular price of $15. After your first basket, you pay $16.50 and you pay for whichever week's basket you want. The website has schedules and locations for pickup in the midwest part of the country.
